Going to a show on New Year's Eve.
I know Yoshi's is one, but what other
restaurants?

Try Girabaldi's on Broadway. Technically it is Rockridge(?) but that's not far

Flora is about 2 blocks away on Telegraph. Its an excellent restaurant that made it onto sfgate's 100 best restaurants in the bay area.

Another vote for Flora, though it's a bit expensive. Neither Yoshi's nor Garibaldi's is walking distance from the Paramount, and given all the new restaurants that are, I'd try one of them first. There's Flora, Ozumo East, Franklin Square Wine Bar, Luka's, and Mua for starters. I'd make reservations at any of them on a Paramount night, though, especially on NYE---they'll be packed. You could also try the restaurants in Old Oakland, which are a long walk. There are lots there.

Yet another vote for Flora. You might also want to try Ozumo which just opened its Oakland outlet. It's a hip Japanese restaurant located near the intersection of Broadway and Grand. Luka's Taproom will probably be packed. Cafe Van Kleef would be another option that hasn't been mentioned.

Van Kleef's doesn't really have food to speak of, though. If you're looking for dinner, it's not a good plan (I think they now serve pizza in addition to the hot dogs and popcorn, but that's about it). But excellent cocktails before or after!
