A lot of the names date from the original tract maps when the areas were sub-divided... so they are just as official as street names.

Chabot Park Highlands
Chabot Park Estates
Durant Park
Sequoyah

As far as I know, its always been called Cleveland Heights. Some people call the top of CH "Haddon Hill". That's where Im focusing my search.

Some pics of Haddon Hill from flick

I grew up in what can called King Estates. Only no one that lived there called it King Estates, until real estate went crazy.
Pretentious people such as myself always called that area King Estates.

i'm not questioning the validity. But I can say that no one that lived there refered to those areas by name. I believe the names were resurrected as real estate increased in price and people wanted to put a "cleaner" label on an area.

To me, it's just like what they did when E14th was changed to International.

This proposal is very nice.

Encinal Tower at 1938 Broadway,
would be Oakland's tallest building at 715'.

Where is that last picture? Next to Zazoo's? I know the canal bridge right where they always sell oranges. I once saw a truck make a hard left off of 5th onto Embarcadero towards coast guard island and literally the back trailer fell over and everything fell off. It was hilarious.

This looks like an interesting project. Over by the shipyards.

Its pretty awesome but it faces a lot of tough opposition by well meaning but totally misguided locals who fear the waterfront will be blocked off to the public. Odd considering locals rarely frequent that section of the waterfront anyways. Just good old fashioned NIMBYism.
