We no nothing about the area. My 52 year old husband is possibly getting a job in Burlingame. I am 46, an artist and we have a 6 year old daughter. I am originally from NYC, my husband from Dublin. We live in NYC, til about 7 years ago.

I was wondering what would be nice areas to live near SF for a family to be. I lean towards urban, but just need a lovely center to be near by. I do love film, arts, theater good food/wine and travel. I know real esate can be high, but we so want to discover the west coast now. We both hate the miserable winters of New England. Sonoma would be something I would love to visit or live nearby.

Also, I need a easy commute for my husband. Is Novata nice? Alameda, San Rafael. My nephew's girlfriend lives in Walnut creek which is on the BART...

Anyway, any information would be helpful. Thanks

Since the job will be in Burlingame, Both Burlingame and parts of San Mateo near Burlingame would work out. Burlingame is a nice, safe upper middle class town about 15 miles from San Francisco and has a nice downtown area. There is a commuter train from Burlingame to SF. Living across the bay and crossing a bridge everyday would make for a sometimes awful commute.
