I graduated from USF and you're an Idiot but we all knew that already.

USF is a private Catholic University. I would hope anyone attending a Catholic school or university would not be at odds with the Catholic perspective. That said, I think it is a pretty liberal campus environment. I've never heard of a mandate to attend mass on a regular basis.

Warning: Be careful takling advice from posters with little to no experience to answer your question.

UC Berkeley is Cal. One of the premier state universities in the country. You will need to establish residency to qualify for in state tuition. The fact that your sister is a CA resident won't help you to start. ;-) Admission to UCB is also extremely competitive.

I find it pretty offensive to be referred to as a sect... as if Catholicism is some type of cult.

You're right though concerning the distinctions between public and private.
if we're talking solely about reputation, U of Chicago is below Stanford's and Cal's

Are there any other good schools in the Bay Area that offer business majors??

Help appreciated, thank you!
USF's only impacted major is the nursing major. But there are a lot of business majors too. The three most common majors are nursing, business, and biology. I think it's pretty good since so many people are in the program. It has it's own building and a pretty big faculty as well as an MBA program. UC Berkeley's business school is great, but really hard to get into. If you're transferring, you have to say that you want to be a business major. They won't let you transfer in and then switch to a business major because it's impacted and it's a very competitive program.

I disagree. There are plenty of regular kids on campus, many on scholarship, plus there's the ROTC program which isn't exactly none for being a "rich kid" program. It's way too stereotypical to say that it's just rich kids. There are a lot but you can't always tell, not all of them are stuck up. Some people want to go to a private college. Not to be too specific but I got into several schools in southern California that are considered more competitive or prestigious but I wanted to live in San Francisco and I like the school itself. USF is the only college in the city of San Francisco that I wanted to go to. Not everyone is enamored with San Francisco State, you know.

This is the first I've heard about it being a rich kid mecca also. I don't know whether this is true or not but USF actually has a high percentage of returning professional level students. Working adults...attending evening and weekend classes. Those who are applying to grad school and those who would like to finish their degree programs - which were interrupted for whatever reason. They have great degree programs for working adults and I suppose this is why they attract them.

This is also incorrect. Are you a current or former student? Can you explain why we aren't forced to go to church, why we only have to take one theology class which can be about any aspect of any religion and does not have to be related to Christianity, why a huge majority of the faculty had "Educators for Obama" pins before the election, and why the administration basically endorsed our protests of the passage of prop 8? If you've never been on campus it would be easy to peg the school as a conservative Catholic school but for non-Catholics who aren't don't know much about it, the school was founded and is run by Jesuits. And they're basically the intellectuals of the Catholic church. One of the main themes of USF is social justice which is why the school, despite the teachings of the Catholic church, didn't seem to find anything wrong with overwhelming opposition to Prop 8.
