Default Current Job Market in the SF Bay Are

I'm currently living in San Diego. The job market here is horrible. I understand that we are in the middle a huge recession right now, but how is the job market in the Bay Area right now? How about for college grads who have work experience? I am under the impression that it's better than San Diego. Is this true? If so, what industries are hiring right now? How about when things were more economically stable? What are the best industries in the Bay Area?

The economy every where is pretty bad but the Bay Area is great for me. Is one of the few places in the US that you can get a job doing just about anything.

I think LA has the Best Job Market overall in California........... Especially Right now............
What i understand is in the Tech industry, you have less competition in LA/Socal, so you will get the job! The majority of the population in LA/Socal are not really Techies, so thats less competition in the High Tech Job Market. I believe the Bay is has too many tech folks fighting for the little jobs that are left! and every year more and more college grads enter the Bay Area job market to compete for the little jobs that are left. Also Big Companies, are not really expanding operations in the Bay Area any more, its too expensive, they are expanding to LA and cheaper area of the country like AZ and Texas. That my take!
But the Bay pays lots more than Socal and I dont think the housing cost are that much different unless you have to live in SF proper!

The Bay Area job market is pretty solid. San Diego is terribly, you are correct Orange County is worse. LA is good, but SF is better.

I could get pretty bad, I know a few close friends in the tech biz out there and they are all laid off. Weak PC sales leads to weak demand for the rest of the parts.

I think the Bay Area job market is terrible. My son, who has a BA (not in tech) but no experience, has been trying to find a job for a year.
