how do these posts become social commentary? This guy needs help knowing where to bring his family....come on. There must be another place on the internet to debate.

just an opinion from someone else who needs help moving her family....

The Richmond is great for families and the location is great - sandwiched between the Presidio and/or the water and Golden Gate Park. It's very walkable, with tons of restaurants and shops and a very bustling street life. It's very ethnically diverse, and you'll hear lots of languages being spoken on the streets - Chinese, of course, but also Russian and a range of other languages from all over the world. We haven't tackled the schools yet, but navigating the city school system sounds a bit of a nightmare. Still, there are good schools to be found.Parts of the Richmond can be kind of ugly and not have a lot of greenery, but I think most of the houses do have at least small backyards -some very lush in a sort of secret garden way - that aren't visible from the street. If you go over to California and Lake it starts to get greener and very pretty, but you'd still be within close distance to all the businesses along Clement and Geary. And, depending on where you are in the Richmond, you can walk to some of the most beautiful beaches around.I don't have any experience with it, but I hear good things about Noe Valley for families. Also Cole Valley. They're also both city of SF neighborhoods and would be convenient for the financial district.
