Hello, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is a reputable school? I was thinking of doing a M.S. degree in Human Resources Management. I have my college degree from a big state school on the east coast, a B.A. in Spanish with a minor in International Studies.

Any advice would be welcome. This degree is 33 credits at GGU. I really think I need to go back to school. Or do you think this is a disaster because there are no guarantees of a job afterwards? do you think it would be better to go to school full time or part time? is it worth the money? what are your thoughts on this plan given the state of the economy and the job market?

a little bit about myself: i am newer to the Bay Area, came here because of husband's job, he is a flash/web developer.

Thank you in advance,
Bevil

I know a few people who have gotten degrees from GGU. And they're nice people with good jobs, come to think of it, all of them are lawyers, but anyway that's all I know about it. It seems to be a less expensive alternative for a second or third degree than the more famous school in the area.

Bevil,

Look into SFSU or perhaps there extension...it would be cheaper and SFSU has a good rep....

If they don't have your major Golden Gate is definitely cheaper then USF....
Good Luck...

If you're getting an MBA Golden Gate has a very good reputation around the Bay Area. Better than SFSU though more expensive. Outside of the Bay Area people will not have heard of the school.

so then do you think that it is not a good idea to get a degree from a school that is not known outside of the bay area?

would it be a better idea to go for the human resources certificate through SFSU than get a human resources masters from GGU?

i just don't want to go in debt if it isn't a good idea, i want to be smart about this.

Once you've been doing a job for a few years, most people don't care very much about where the degree came from. It's getting the first job after getting the degree where it carries some weight. If you're going to stay in the Bay Area for awhile then it makes sense to me to go to Golden Gate.
