I heard that the dating scene in San Francisco is HORRIBLE for heterosexual women and that most of the dudes there are gay ... I'm not American but just hearing about this has convinced me never to go to San Francisco if I ever want to meet a man whom loves women

I love Houston , TX and Los Angeles , CA though

So ...
Is it true ?
Is it truly a horror movie there ??????????

Pretty much so, but certainly not everyone, in any area can be grouped together.

Where you find that special someone could be in the bleakest, whole-in-the-wall location or the most lush and thriving place for studly batchelors. Don't disregard a nice location just because of some reputation you heard. SF is very diverse and has straight men and women of all types and personalities.

I'm a straight woman who grew up in SF and dated in SF for most of my adult life. I met my ex husband in the City. I think this is utter hogwash. If you believe it, you will experience it. I think the dating scene can be horrible or great anywhere. Just depends on your outlook. Gay men aren't interested in you, lol, so I don't know why people always bring that up. There are plenty of straight men in SF and I got hit on alot. Not being conceited, just busting stereotypes. Also....the bay area is huge and expansive ~ there are other counties within traveling distance and many single folks with a wide variety of interests, everywhere. With an open mind, you're sure to find a kindred soul. If I can do it with my quirky, non-mainstream self, I know you can too.

It is so ridiculous when people think that SF is so gay..b/c it is not. Where do you think a lot of the gay people come from? They come from NY, and Boston, and Philly, and Chicago, etc b/c SF is more tolerant. It is not like they are all born here. Oakland is only 2% less gay the SF and Atlanta is actually 1% higher than SF when it comes to gays. You could also look at it like this, SF is 15% gay. That means 7.5% is Lesbian and 7.5% gay. To say the dating scene for a heterosexual female or male in that matter is horrible is flat out wrong.

Who ever tells you that has never been here or is ugly. Not everybody who goes out in SF is from or lives in SF. I've said this before 7 million people in the bay area, people from all over the bay go into SF to party and have fun. Maybe the people telling you dating sucks for heterosexuals need to stop hanging out in the Castro. The gays have their own clubs.

I agree with most everyone here, that's just not true. I have lived in SF for a couple of months and have met more great guys than I have basically my whole life. I have been on several dates with great people. I felt like I met no one in Virginia where I'm from, but I find myself to feel much more in the middle of the dating scene in SF. I had to laugh at the guy who said that maybe who told you that was ugly LOL However, I think there are even guys for ugly people in SF. I think men definitely fancy woman who are educated and care about their health and being active, but that is most places.

Well, I met my husband in San Francisco...happily together now for 14 yrs.

I never really had any problems meeting men and finding dates, but finding the "right" one is obviously something you cannot predict no matter where you live!

I would think that you're an utter moron for even asking this question because you must find some semblance of truth in it. Yes all men in San Francisco are gay, this is how they breed. Straight women have no chance at all in finding some interested in them. Send them to Daly City instead.
