Hi there,

I am gonna to visit SF this summer.
I had already booked a room in Cathedral Hill Hotel (1101 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94109).
Could anybody tell me the restaurants (not expensive one) nearby?.
I do not have a car and I am with a small baby.
Thank you!

There are about a hundred restaurants within a couple blocks of Van Ness and Geary. What did you have in mind?

Hi sonarrat,

Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese would be the perfect choices.
However, I do not mind to try Italian or French ones.
Thanks.

If you don't mind the edge of a gritty hood, there are many good and inexpensive Vietnamese, Thai, Asian Fusion places at the Western edge of the Tenderloin, especially on Larkin for a few blocks south from Geary, and a bit on Polk and on side streets thereof. For a somewhat more Bohemian / hip vibe, check out Polk north of Geary. West of Van Ness, and south of O'Farrell, there is another zone of many restaurants, somewhat geared to service people going to the Ballet, Opera, etc and a bit more pricey. Going a bit further that way, on Hayes, as you move west away from Van Ness there is another hip zone, intermingled with one of the better boutique oriented shopping areas. Mid to upper mid priced.

Right across the street from the Cathedral Hill Hotel is a great place--Tommy's Joynt. It's a "hof brau" with things like roast beef, turkey dinners and meatball sandwiches at very reasonable prices. It also has a bar but kids are okay. It definitely has a lot of character!

If that isn't your style, as mentioned above, there are literally hundreds of restaurants within a few blocks.

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for the information.
Tommy's Joynt sounds good. I will give a try.
Enjoy your evening!

I found 2 Korean restaurants near my hotel: New Korea House at 1620 Post St and Korea House at 1640 Post St. (Laguna St.) from the net.
Do you guys have any idea about those ones?

I've been to New Korea House and liked it a lot. The food is tasty and plentiful and the prices are reasonable (though not totally cheap). The restaurant is also quite spacious, good for larger groups.
