That's not what I said at all, I go to Oakland, Ying Kee is on 9th St.
I suggest you are trying to pick a fight where there is none.
What I was saying is that the "CHinatown" section of San Francisco is great for tourists but not where most Chinese, or Asians for that matter live.
Outer Richmond is a good neighborhood to live in. I don't know about living in Chinatown Oakland, seems really priceey with all those new condos

I wouldn't consider Chinatown in SF fake at all, there are still many Chinese residents in the area, particularly poor recent immigrants. Compare the shops on Stockton St, which target the Chinese population much more so than tourists, like Grant St does. Of course the Chinese and Asian population here is quite large and assimilated, and those who can afford better housing do live outside the 'Chinatown" section. However, I have friends whose family's still hold close ties to the historic neighborhood, despite living in the burbs. Chinatown is very much so still a functional ethnic neighborhood, compared to say North Beach.
