Um, no. You posted a bunch of old news reports in response to evidence from much more current articles about some great, positive things going on in Oakland--and then asked for proof that anything has changed. You can't argue in circles and not expect to be called on it.

Like I said earlier:

Oakland's murder rate is down about 45% from its all time high set in 1992.

I've lived in places like San Francisco, Manhattan, and even Tokyo, real cities of urban culture unlike Oakland which has become a cesspool, and I've never seen such decay and criminal infestation as I've seen in Oakland. Oakland is quite literally as dangerous as many large cities in the third world. I looked up the stats back in 2006, and I found that Oakland had more documented murders in its borders than Mogadishu, Somalia. It's shocking. As for making a difference, I think I'm doing the best I can as a former Alameda County resident, by being truthful and honest to people who look at Oakland as a potential place to live. I feel by being dishonest, you're endangering a family, or older couple by not telling them the entire truth.

I think what is astonishing is the numbers of murders in Oakland IN CONCENTRATED areas. If you marked off the blocks with concentrations of murders/homicides and then put the number of inhabitants next to that number it would be surprisingly scary. This stat I think would convey just how concentrated the bad neighborhoods are. What most here I think are trying to relay to you is there are MANY safe areas within Oakland so don't discount the city as a whole. I'm curious to find out when,where,and how long you lived in Oakland?

That stat means nothing.

You could also paint it like this: Oakland's Murder rate increased 15% since 2004, and it would be equally as accurate.

What you have to take into account is how Oakland is doing in comparison to other cities of its size. On that level, Oakland is the most dangerous city of its size in the state of California.
