It sounds like you live your life and see everyone as stereotypes, thats not my problem but yours. I'm not originally from Oakland, but most of my family lives there. I'm from Hayward. I live in Oakland out of financial necessity. Though my personal philosophy is diametrically opposed to the politics here. This city and Berkeley seem to be pro-communist.

I get so irritated at family members sometimes(jman650 and Im sure most other Bay Area forumers can vouche for how ghetto my people can be).

It is the ownership of the team and many fans who are worried, as a giants fan I get personal joy that the team is either going to sit and rot in Oakland or is going to leave the Bay area. I was just giving reasons and examples for why a ballgame is not enjoyable in Oakland.

The type of Blacks that care what White people think of you.

The type of black who cares what people in General think of me. I am mature enough and keen sighted enough to understand what I do reflects on myself, my family, and most important, my community. I do not strive to be like many blacks today who are glorified in Pop culture, the types that would make Martin Luther King roll over in his grave.

The type of Blacks that are so concerned that a White person will accuse you of "Playing the race card" you'll say nothing in order to not make them angry because hey you're not one of THOSE blacks. The Complaining blacks, you're a couple of good ones that will tap dance for racial harmony. Congrats on being two uncle toms.

And what type of black are you sir? The type who assumes first that I am white, or a yuppie, or uneducated, who than results to name-calling and race baiting when they can't make a rational argument? Who then has the audacity to wonder why on earth people think he is "an angry emotional black man with a chip on his shoulder". Typing this all at 10 am and 1 pm while everyone is either at work or at school getting an education. This is exactly the type of behavior people see every day in Oakland. And the type of behavior people are talking about when they talk about ghetto people in Oakland.

It is behavior like this that has quite frankly kept the black community down in Oakland. You get all bent out of shape for me calling people out for behavior that is otherwise unacceptable in realms of respectable american society. What would you call the two kids in baggy cloths and dread locks selling exstacy and weed. Where I come from we call them drug pushers, who do not care who they poison, even their own community.

What would you call the person blocking a narrow street simply because he is having a conversation. Where I come from that behavior is considered rude and selfish.

What do you call the people scalping tickets trying to rip people off, outstanding members of the community? Or how about the people who broke into my car or slashed my tires, what are they? Where I come from we have two words to describe those people. Scum bags.

But no of course, this behavior is not only pervasive in Oakland, it is acceptable. Its part of the nonsense pitbull mentality that people have and it is why people quite frankly vote with their feet. It is why those who are well heeled have left and Oaklands schools, parks, police, and streets have decayed.

So believe me if someone as narrow minded as to think I am an uncle tom calls me that, more power to them. No skin off my back. I am not self hating as you say or ashamed. I am quite proud of what my family and forefathers have done for the black community.
Frederic Ellis Davison, Major General, United States Army. My family understood what it meant to be black. It meant working twice hard to prove you were just as good if not better than you worked twice as hard. It means not letting anyone get the better of you and giving it your all. It means not dabbling in your obstacles but over comming them. Both my grandfathers did this and succeeded in life well before Martin Luther King even gave his civil rights speech. It is a life lead by a set of morals that people like MLK, our president, colin powell, Rice, and Cosby, Jordan and many others live by. Its called moving forward and ahead. It is a set of morals I live by and a set of morals which has helped me succed in life. If you dont do this, you will be left in the dust, in the ghetto, in Oakland calling every successful black you see an "uncle tom".

Do the yourself a favor and stop with the name calling and try to have an arguement like a grown up. "City" boy.

You prefer the environment at AT&T?
most of the people at a giants game don't know **** about what is going on on the field. they just decided to come from walnut creek to see a pretty stadium and pretend they aren't dead inside
