I'm still trying to find a place to stay in the bay area that's convienent to both the sacramento airport and sf sightseeing as well as wine country.
Areas such as novato, vallejo, benicia, danville, walnut creek, and pleasant hill are my top choices for hotels right now. I'm trying to keep it under $120 a night (hard to do I know!) and I've found several well priced ones in the north richmond area near hilltop mall.
Just wondering if this area is even safe as at all, if not I'll stick to the other places.

Not sure if I can edit my op but I've decided against Richmond all together! lol we'll hopefully be getting a place in Benicia or a hotel in Novato or Danville.

I live in a small town not too far across the bay from Benicia. Benicia is a better choice than either Novato or Danville because it is easy to get to Highway 80 from Benicia, and Highway 80 East is the main highway to Sacramento.

Thanks, I think we decided on Novato since it's a little closer to downtown, the national seashore and the general wine country area. Google maps said it was an extra 20 minutes to get to Sacramento (as compared to Benicia) but I have a feeling it'll take a little longer with traffic.
