Note to self: If I ever move to the Bay area, do NOT get into a situation where I must travel across the Bay to get to/from work.

They're saying 24 hour closure now.

There may be more to this picture. I strongly suspect that when they cycled the linear stresses on the Eastern Span, by removing the old section and wedging in the new detour section, they brought out hidden metal fatigue fractures. There may be other trouble spots in the overhead framework still lurking, beyond the obvious trouble spot found Labor Day and still plagued due to the failed repair.

I also find it curious that the repair failed during a period of high wind.

This really does not look good at all.

The thing I don't understand is that there was an additional partial closure after the repair to make sure it was in place and working as advertised..

Auto insurance may go up if you're using that bridge

If you use that bridge, chances are your insurance is higher anyway. Unless you're comparing to San Francisco. Yowza.

Auto insurance has nothing to do with the bridge. It is calculated by your driving history.

The bridge is scheduled to re- open sometime tomorrow. CalTrans and Federal Engineers have inspected it.
No big deal.

Live your life and pray . Everything else will fall into place.
Trust me.
