Hello:

Are there any neighborhood areas/organizations, retirement communities and/or active adult apartment complexes in the San Francisco (plus surrounding) area suitable for a Jewish couple in their mid 70's - very active and no need for assisted living.

Also, somewhat affordable as they are on a fixed income.

They are considering moving from Southern California to be closer to family (who are pretty new to the SF area too!)

Thank you!

Maybe somewhere near the JCC in Presidio Heights in San Francisco. I will warn you being a jewish transplant here from W. LA, there is not as strong of a jewish culture up here as in So Cal. You really need to seek it out. That being said, there are 2 huge temples and the JCC all in the Presidio/Pac Heights area. I would contact the JCCSF and ask them about some good places. Im sure they would know.

There's a huge retirement community called Rossmoor near/in Walnut Creek (East Bay)..really beautiful area. The Jewish Community Center is actually right outside the entrance so I imagine that there must be a large Jewish population as well. Here's the link to the center...JCC Contra Costa (http://www.ccjcc.org/ - broken link)
