Hi, we'll be moving to SF city, likely around the Pac Hts and Lower Pac Hts area. I am hoping to find some good Asian supermarkets nearby that are similar to 99 Ranch. Preferably reachable on foot, but public transport would be ok. I know there is a 99 Ranch in Daly City but that is too far for what I am seeking. Please tell me about any that you know of. Thanks!

Ocean View Supermarket is huge and very similar to Ranch 99. You won't find anything as large as Ranch 99 in Chinatown or on Clement.

Your best bet for similar(but much smaller) to 99 Ranch and easy access by public transport is New May Wah on Clement St. between 8th and 9th Ave. Other Chinese oriented supermarkets are the Sunset Supers on 26th & Irving and 39th & Vicente. For Japanese groceries Nijiya in Japantown is great. There are a couple of little Korean markets, one on Fillmore just south of Geary and another near 11th and Geary. For a big Korean market there is Kukje in Daly City. The is also the Manila Oriental Market on Mission a couple blocks north of Silver Ave.

I go to the Manila Oriental Market at 4175 Mission St in the excelsior sometimes. It's a so-so neighborhood, but it's a really really good Asian market, in my honest opinion.

Like the other poster said, New May Wah on 8th & Clement is your best bet, probably one of the biggest in the city.
