I say go for it. This could shake things up downtown big time.

The matter is now before Oakland's city council, which will likely vote on updated cabaret laws this month, say Oakland officials. The proposed changes include lowering the permit fee for some bars to $600 from $2,200, streamlining the application process to speed up approvals, and extending the 2 a.m. closing time for some nightclubs and bars to 5 a.m.

I thought this was a statewide ordinance. What's the loophole? More cities should exploit it.

There are'nt any real nightclubs in Oakland lol so I'm not sure what this will effect. But this is long overdue for SF.

And I should quit because...you disagree that there are'nt any real nightclubs in Oakland? Why else would Oakland be the only city to enact such an ordinance in the area if it was'nt out of desperation for business?

Luka's Taproom is a lot of fun actually--you should try it some time. Paradiso too.

Hopefully there will be many additions...

Uptown is going to blow up if this actually happens. Maybe extended BART hours arent too far behind.

Lukas is ghetto. They actually call that little shack they have on the side a dancefloor?

Well, I always have fun there and its been favorably reviewed and recommended by the NY Times so forgive me if I take my experiences and the Times review over your 3-word condemnation. LOL

Paradiso is cool too.
