If you had trouble finding a date in a city that's 85% straight, I'd say the problem is most likely with you, not the city.

Speak for yourself, mr. opinion.

edit: just to throw a little credibility under my belt, here are the cities with the best Mexican food that i've had so far in my life, in no particular order:

San Francisco
Salinas
Desert Hot Springs
San Jose
San Diego

not having a problem at all here. i'm simply saying that austin is better for straight singles. but i've gone out with some very fine women indeed here.

well, i was only talking about san francisco mexican vs austin mexican, but yeah sure california has good mexican food although i've never eaten in san diego...

but seriously though why is it that the majority of mexican restaurants here in san francisco have the exact same menu? the food isn't bad... it just gets a little tiring after awhile. and they all cook them the same way too... the burritos, the fillings in the burritos, the quesadilla suizas. the torta cubanas. the tacos... always the same darn thing.

tell me... where can i find a good place where they sell barbacoa? the barbacoa made here is soooo much different from texas and simply not good. the carne guisada? where is it? the fajitas? it's too southwestern here. the breakfast taco? the chorizo is gross here too! eww the flour tortillas are UNDERCOOKED.

come on... give this one to texas... that's all i'm saying. or at least give this one to austin when its paired against sf. there's more options... where you can find plenty of different styles of mexican food. styles from guadalajara, jaliscienses, jalisco, janitzio, etc. i'd have to be willing to drop some $20 for a decent plate here in sf that has something different or similar to the kinds of foods in austin. i'm not kidding.

this is the kind of barbacoa i dream about eating every day. and i cry myself to sleep thinking about how the next day i will never find it in san francisco.

oh where oh where can i find this carne guisada here in san francisco? seriously!!! i'd like to know cause i wanna eat some! by the way, you notice that brown flour tortilla? that's how you eat a flour tortilla. brown, golden and crispy! yummy!!!

digame senor! donde puedo comer breakfast tacos like dees wons!

and all this food here? you won't just find them in austin... you'll find it anywhere in texas. cause that's how we dew it!!

Want authentic Tex Mex? Try to convince a restaurant owner to relocate. They'll probably get a ton of business.

a friend of mine in texas who used to live here in the bay said that there was a tex-mex restaurant somewhere in the north bay area... i wonder if its still there. i've actually thought of how it would be like, but then i wondered how people would react when they saw there was no burritos on the menu. it might backfire haha if i were the owner, i'd kick people out if they asked me for a superburrito! haha

That is what I suggested to Pappasito's! I love the Tex Mex from there! I think they would be a huge success in the Bay Area.

Start a Facebook page. See if you can get a few thousand or more members who support idea. Take this back to Pappasito's and see what they think.

I think it is outstanding! I don't understand how can you can say it is not that great We will just disagree on that one!

I think it is the best Tex Mex I have ever had. I grew up in Houston and I have tried many places in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston....and nothing compares to Pappasitios. Best fajitas, best cheese enchiladas, best seafood enchiladas, best taco's al carbon! Now I am craving my Tex Mex....
