SF in the summer beats SD in the summer. The combination of heat and humidity in SD is too much at times but SF never really gets heat AND humidity at the same time. SF has more variation which is more exciting and desirable. It's great to see the fog/clouds moving at 80mph (or so it seems) over the city, it gives it an energy not found in many places. SD has a much slower pace and can get exceedingly boring. I like it dry, so I live 360 miles inland from there where 1 day in 3 was 100 or more last year. But, in any case, the area just east of the Sierras in California is my ideal. The elevation (4000') makes for wide daily variations, not too cold in winter, warm days (100) and cool evenings (50) in the summer, PLUS one helluva mountain view!

The other differences people notice are due to geography of where one is in proximity to the coast. There is a much larger chunk of L.A. that is located quite a bit further from the coast than is the case in SD. Downtown L.A, Hollywood etc are all much further from the coast than any of the primary areas of San Diego. Coastal weather in L.A. is the same as coastal weather in SD. Weather changes traveling inland at the same rate in both cities. Due to job and/or where you choose to live, you're just more likely to be further from the coast in LA. than in SD.
SD also gets a wee bit more of the Southwestern Monsoon than LA does.

Sometimes, the "Fog Desert" climate of Baja intrudes northward producing proper ground level fog at the coast when the rest of the state is free of any sort of marine "fog." The "Fog Desert" fog is a slightly different mechanism than the Marine Layer and rarely makes it north of OC and once in a blue moon to Pt. Conception.

Other places with the "Fog Desert" climate: Namibia, SW Morocco, the southern Atcama.

Wait, they showed people at the beach on TV during the Jets/Chargers game? That was obviously stock footage, as I've been in SD for months now, and it was actually cool, overcast, and raining slightly in the North County during the game. There was no break in the clouds. We've been getting pelted by heavy rains for days! Unusually so, but that's TV magic for ya.

Exactly. Actually could have been the day before the game though. It was sunny and warm for a good stretch of time prior to this stretch of crappy weather

Yeah, San Francisco has the best weather...except from about January to March when it traditionally stays overcast and rains like hell way more often than not - like this past week... (Not that we don't need it)

I am enjoying it; catching up on some reading, re-organizing my home office, installed a network backup solution, and making cardboard puzzles with my little one..oh and working too yeah .

You don't love eating meatloaf every night? Haha, I grew up in the South and its weather wasn't all that. I don't think anyone can actually get used to that much humidity. I much prefer this area.

I'm surprised it hasn't been said yet but Redwood City obviously has the best weather after all... "Climate Best by Government Test" is their motto.

Personally, for me, it's a toss up between San Francisco and Daly City.

For me, I find Oakland's climate ideal but SF's and Berkeley's are good too.

I find the east bay to have nicer weather, but still a tad too cool. I remember back in high school visiting family in the east bay and it was way too cool on the 4th of July (mostly from too much wind). Much prefer the South Bay/San Jose weather because it is warmer, more sun, and less rain. But I guess that is just me being me. lol, the bay overall is just nice... i guess no point in being overly nit picky.
