Yes, but you specifcally said "urban areas" and the San Francisco-Oakland, CA Urbanized Area currently has around 3.3 Million people.

I could answer that question but I would wreather have a Marin native answer that question. So if anyone here is from Marin County, could you please answer the question. Thanks
I used to live in Marin County and I don't think they'd ever go for something like this. And can you blame them. Why would a relatively small, wealthy county relinquish control of itself to larger entities who can do things that really don't serve Marin's interest.

If you want to include Santa Clara county, then by all means post pictures of Stanford and Moffett Field which are not in San Mateo County.

I agree with 18montclair. There has to be a lot of incentive with all parties involved to make something like this happen. It's far easier to split municipal areas than to merge them.

Also goonzy, as a photographer, I'm going to tell you that it really isn't cool to steal photos and I know it's against city-data's TOS. Photos googled are often seen in google searches on city-data. I know my photos have shown up that way that I've posted here.

Thats just federal government bull****, you can't go by that. San Francisco and San Jose are just as connected if not more then SF and Oakland. SF and Oakland are also highly connected to the North Bay. Matter of fact is that the entire San Francisco Bay Area is one region and no one can deny that.

They may not be in San Mateo county but Stanford and Moffett Field are physically and geographically located on the San Francisco Peninsula.
Palo Alto, Mountain View and Los Altos also have a 650 area code just like the other cities on the San Francisco Peninsula.

What Golden Gate? The area code in SF and near the bridge ( and Marin county) is 415.

I voted for 'No'. Centralization is needed, but changing the borders won't do much. I'm a staunch supporter of working together on a more regional level (like New York's borough system), rather than annex as much as possible and call it a new county while shutting others out. In terms of governance, what would this proposed county offer that would entice others to join it (besides some kind of weird prestige?)
