Hello,
I just moved into a condo in San Francisco, it's an old victorian and quite drafty and cold. The building is getting a roof replacement done after the rains, and I'm hoping to get some duct work put in and some central heating installed at the same time. I don't know if this makes sense, or if I should wait till the roof repair is done. Is there any advantage to doing it at the same time? I'm on the top floor, and I don't have access to any crawl space within my unit. Thank you!

You'll need to check with your property manager -- there might be regulations in the CCRs about how one does this. And he or she will know the best places to call.....

Yes... it could be the best/only time to add concealed ducting.

My brother had a similar situation with the family room addition in his home... it had space between the ceiling and roof that was not accessible unless the roof or Sheetrock was removed...

We installed hard metal ducting the same day the old roof was removed... timing was everything.

Condos add another entire level of complexity... doesn't hurt to ask as Tallysmom said.
