I'll be visiting SF for 5 days and my family wants to send me off for some spa-ing. Problem is: I have no idea where to go. I'd like something really laid-back and woody, rather than glitzy with a lot of women prepping for weddings -- if that gives an idea of my preferred atmosphere. I'd also be open to staying overnight somewhere. Any ideas?

This is a bit on the expensive side, but if your family is willing to spring for it, you should check out the Spa at the Carneros Inn. I've stayed there a few times and been for a massage twice. One of the massages there was the best one that I've ever had.

They have a day spa special (see below), but I recommend staying overnight if you get a chance.

Yeah, most spas tend to me pretty glitzy. You may want to see if there is anything in the Calistoga area, which is quite funky and known for its natural hot springs and mud baths as well.

Osmosis in Occidental (Sonoma County) sounds like EXACTLY what you're looking for. Laid back and woodsy, amazing.

Thanks for the responses! I ended up at Cavallo Point Spa right outside Sausalito, at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge. Really relaxing spa to hang out in + great hiking. The best part was the the Thai massage .. I've had plenty of massages, but this was the BEST MASSAGE i've ever had.
