There is no comparison between LA and Oakland. You're simply not educated on the nuisances of venture capitalism.
Apparently you're not educated enough to realize how professional sports and their market share work. What does the city population of Oakland have to do with the A's reach and fanbase? Did you know that their fan base extends beyond the city limits? The SF Bay Area being one of the wealthiest regions in the country provides plenty of incentive to build a new stadium for the A's. And the A's attendance problems have more to do with bad management than anything with the city of Oakland. There is pent up demand. Just look at the Warriors a few seasons ago when they made the playoffs, they had the highest ticket prices in the entire NBA during their playoff run. The A's could easily lure fans back with a new stadium and better team.

Also the comparison of Oakland and Los Angeles is pretty fitting because of a team called the RAIDERS . Your arguments just keep getting worse and worse as you do anything to rail on Oakland. It's sad when people need attention like this.

Someone already beat me to it - the fans didn't vote Cahill into the AS game. It's true that every team needs 1 representative but his stats not only align him with the best young pitchers in baseball, but also with all star pitchers this season. Moreover, have you yet to realize that Cahill was chosen to the All Star game over last year's AL Rookie of the Year Andrew Bailey (17 saves and a 1.83 ERA?!?!) Are you serious?!

Cahill is 22! You keep acting like the guy is 30 and was mingling around AAA. He's uber young - 22, 6'4'' and was a potential 1st round pick. This isn't what you might deem a fluke season - this is a big time arm with top-of-the-rotation talent. Note: Most 21-22 year old pitchers start the year in AAA. Wow.

You're right that he's not a rookie. It's his 2nd season. I missed that, and notice that I'm humble enough to admit when I got something wrong. I hope you are equally humble, because you're wrong on just about everything else.

As a note, Mazzaro doesn't suck. A 23-year old who is 4-2 with a 3.81 ERA? This guy was a potential 1st round draft pick, has talent, and is a solid pitcher. His last 3 starts, he pitched into the 7th inning all 3 times and gave up 2 ER, 1 ER, and 1 ER. Are you joking me? Note for casual baseball fans: Not everyone enters the league with the fan fare like Stephen Strasburg and k's 11 guys in his first outing. Most pitchers grow like this.

God. 1st round pick in 2007 - 25 year old that we got back along with Bret Wallace in the Matt Holiday deal. You really have no idea what's going on at this point. It's no assured that he'll be a stud, but he's got stud talent and showed some positives in his first start this season.

Sounds pretty typical of a 24-year old pitcher. Guy was a top pitcher coming into the 2004 draft and has some serious talent. Even though you think he sucks, a young AL starter with a 7-6 record and a 3.79 ERA as your 5th starter? As I said in my previous post, that's really terrific. Dude's 24.

You make no sense.

As a note, the reason the A's are scheduled to contend next season are these young pitchers who are expected to mature essentially as starters that are anywhere between quality to dominant. I see ABSOLUTELY nothing that says that their maturation process isn't going as planned. In fact, Mazzaro is better than I thought he'd be at this point and I had no idea Cahill would be the All-Star (Hello, Andrew Bailey anyone?)

The Giants have successfully sucked up any remaining out of town support Oakland could've had.

But don't take my word for it, just look at the half empty stadium the A's can't fill up.

Two words. Al Davis. Time for you to do some reading, though I doubt your type reads very much.
