Default Moving to Bay Area

I have been in Seattle for six years and don’t care for it. Things are going OK for me at work but on the personal side Seattle is desolate for me. I have a tentative job offer in the Bay Area (Pleasanton).

I lived in San Francisco proper (the Haight) 20 years ago but this time around plan to stay closer to work

I would be relocating to the Walnut Creek / Dublin / San Ramon / Pleasanton area.

What is it like now? How is the quality of life? Are these areas just another example of sterile, lifeless suburbia?

Thank You is on a distinguished road
These are the suburbs. You can't expect San Francisco in the burbs. That said, of the east bay burbs, or should I say valley burbs, these are some of the prettier ones. There are plenty of parks, trees, trails to ride or walk on, ect. Although it gets hot, it's manageable. Lifeless?, Well, that's really up to you.

I like the Pleasanton / Livermore area myself but as Thank You said it's apples and oranges when comparing it to the Haight. They are more family oriented. If you haven't visited in 20 years you might be really shocked by the amount of sprawl in that area. Not as "country" as it used to be.

Of those listed, I like Walnut Creek. Great shopping, nature, Bart access, and your close to Berkeley.

honestly imho,
yes.

except the ethnic diversity is very good in bay area suburbs as thousands of upwardly mobile asian and hispanic households now live in these areas as well.

although,
there is BART, and some nice outdoor recreation nearby.
