Whats the salary needed to enjoy a comfortable living in a good area of Vallejo city (or the North Bay in general)?

All depends on your idea of comfortable.

As a Vallejo resident I would first like to say that Vallejo is very cheap compared to other bay area cities. Secondly I would like to state that Vallejo is not the North Bay. There are only three counties in the North Bay and those are Marin county, Sonoma county, and Napa county. Vallejo is in Solano co. which in under the juristiction of the East Bay. I also thought Vallejo was the north bay but I was required to write my congressman to recieve basic info on Vallejo for a school project. The letter informed me that Vallejo is actually located in the East Bay region. I was shocked so I did further research and after many frustrating hours and days of research I was shocked again to find that in the U.S. governement archives it states that Vallejo is an East Bay city. Unfortunetly not many people know this and assume Vallejo is a north Bay city which is false. Another thing I would recommend before moving here is to consider the crime Vallejo has had a bad rep. for for the last 20 years. Dont let the looks fool you, I have seen about a dozen dead bodies from either shootings or other means of violence during my life as a born and raised Vallejoan.

Vallejo being East Bay or North Bay would matter how?

Vallejo being the East Bay doesn't seem to matter much but the fact that schools don't teach children the geography of the area we live in is a bad sign. I was in the 12th grade two years ago at Vallejo High School and about (averaging) 75% of the teachers who taught there were telling students that Vallejo and Solano County wasn't a part of the Bay Area. Just trying to set facts straight, thats all.

I can see that. Traditionally Solano County wasn't considered part of the Bay Area. However, the definition of the Bay Area has expanded over the years and also depends on who you ask. 40 years ago many people didn't think of San Jose as being in the Bay Area. 40 years from now Sacramento and Stockton will probably be in the Bay Area.

If you want to get Technical about it, Solano county touches two Bays, Grizzly Bay and San Pablo Bay. The "Bay Area" seems to refer to counties that touch the SF Bay. The SF Bay turns into San Pablo Bay right about the Bay Bridge. Personally, I don't get why since it seems like one big bay to me.
Of course I've never Understood how Monterrey Bay got to be a bay at all. It's the Pacific! These days folks up in Santa Rosa (Sonoma County) call themselves "North Bay". I suppose if you fail to specify exactly which bay, Sonoma, being directly north and bordered by the San Pablo Bay, would indeed be North Bay. It doesn't really matter. How someone decided it was East Bay is anyone's guess. |

Richmond Bridge maybe but most define the southern end of San Pablo Bay as being between Point San Pablo and Point San Pedro.

I stand corrected. The San Pablo Bay begins roughly at the Richmond Bridge. I have no clue why I stated "Bay" Bridge. ![]() |
