There is nothing nonsense about it to me.
This the crux of the issue, and why I hate the bay area.

The people up there, like bay area girl, and others who have responded with one-liner put downs in this thread, are arrogant and prejudiced.

What is culture?
Culture is : the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group.

What is it to have no culture?
It is impossible to have no culture because the very definition of culture is the social form of a social group. In this case cities being the social group.

Yet, these pot smokers claim I have no culture because I live in a certain city. This is pure Insanity. We can disagree on what cultures we find appealing to us as individuals in certain cities, but to say that someone has no culture is an ignorant, offensive, and arrogant claim.

Yet this is exactly what people believe in the bay area; that Southern Californians have no culture, and aren't genuine people. Who in their right mind as a human being would define other human beings that way in a prejudiced, blanket statement based on where they are from and where they live?

I'll tell you who, racists. Racists that generalize and characterize people by the country they are from and the color of their skin and then make judgments on what they are worth as human beings. In this case they do it by where some one is from and how they dress, not much different in my book. What you have here is a bunch of Bay Area racists, or in this case "regionalists" who think they are god's gift to the world, and that people in the south are less than human.

This attitude runs rampant in the bay area, and bayareagirl is a classic example of this mentality. I guess she now thinks that her own mother isn't genuine because she lives down here eh? Pathetic. Well I'm glad you became "real" in the East Bay dear.

Mmm, so we are the arrogant ones, racisit & prejudice, hmm I guess so. You must be absolutely right about that! Since we don't agree with you and because it is coming from you. How highly intelligent of you. I love So. CA, the South, and love the bay area. Don't believe anyone said that Southern CA was fake or had no culture. You are putting words into many peoples mouths. I appreciate the bay more since I moved back here.

The housing decline in CA started in Southern CA. Actually just looked it up.

Who said anything about you getting laid? Those are your words or again you might be confusing me with some one else you've been PM'ing. If you are questioning your manhood your problem. Again, do not say that I mentioned anything racial to you as that is not the case.

Also, not everyone likes the drug problem going on in the bay or any part of the country for that matter. But you live in Southern CA and the problem is there just as much as it is here.

I'm glad with all of your comments that you are not the arrogant one. If I have offended you and you still think of me with disdain, and can't stand the bay area then I guess I have done my job. MOVE ON! You've moved from the bay area so you should be writing about how wonderful of an experience you are having in the place you refer to as heaven without crime that is your perfect place- Burbank.

I'm done, and am sure you are not. So have at it.

"Mmm, so we are the arrogant ones, racisit & prejudice, hmm I guess so."

Yeah thanks for admitting to it!

"Don't believe anyone said that Southern CA was fake or had no culture."

Read your own words I quoted back to you, and some of the other responders words in this thread. You were the one that used the terms "real families" as opposed to non-real families, and "great pretenders" which implies falseness. Do you not know what words mean and imply when you type them? I find that hard to believe.

As far as the PM thing goes, you know what you wrote me dear, and you can lie all you want.

Here's a great article that sums up the Bay Area attitude that I'm talking about:

San Fran vs. Los Angeles: The Smack-down. | Lifestyle : thescene.com.au - trash:festivals:music:lifestyle

Full of vitriol, arrogance, prejudiced assumptions and so forth. The guy basically says no one reads books down here so we are stupid, and that the women have no ambition, and are sex-obsessed, promiscuous whores.

It sounds just like what white racists say about African Americans, i.e. they are stupid and uneducated, have a hedonistic/shallow culture, and the women are sluts. I am sure many of you in the bay agree with this article too.

Look in the mirror and find the ugliness inside that is the East Bay mentality.

Again, you like to put words into peoples mouths. What I mean by "real" is that the entertainment industry and people that work in them is not "real" professions. "Real" meaning that you would not be able to work any where else in this country other than So. CA. It is an industry that sets illusions and illusions are not real. You have people that must have plastic surgery because their real looks won't get them far in that town. You have people that can't afford the cars they are driving and the houses they live in to keep up appearances. That is not real it is an illusion. Many people in the entertainment industry say similar things all the time. When they start believing in it is when people tend to get washed up, become fake, and have lost their minds and have to move out of Southern CA to be around people that keep them grounded or "real". "Real" families are not the actors and producers and kids trying to be models and or actors and or singers. That is not "real" and has nothing to do with a mentality of people being fake.

You have an issue with the bay area and the way people think, great! Get a life. The bay area people just like people in Southern CA are from all over the world and bring to the table their life experiences.

Again, I am done. Why is this thread not closed yet?

Whoa, whoa! I've been reading this thread for days now. What on earth Forker? Why are you so bitter and angry? Do you live in norcal or socal? If you live in socal now, why do you care to remain mentally in norcal? Give it a rest, let it go, and move on. I see the downsides to norcal and I see the downsides to socal. None of the cons for either place are reason to be this bitter. Just trying to understand here. What has your experience been like in norcal? I'm trying to make sense of the fury

and to piggy-back off of that-- forker, you seem eerily similiar to some other posters on here (same person? noooo.... couldn't be.). here's the profile i speak of: hate the bay area, nothing is good enough for you, complains that others are critical (when in fact they are merely reacting to your statements), you prefer socal, etc.

put a fork in it, forker. you're an angry brut. for all the ugliness you claim exists in the sf bay area, you sure are doing your part to keep that "reputation" alive. post a pic-- we'll judge for ourselves ooooohh.....

Again you generalize!!!! Not everyone here is trying to get in front of the camera. You act as if EVERYONE in entertainment is trying to be a Model or an Actor.

Writers do not need plastic surgery.
Cinematographers do not need plastic surgery.
Set builders do not need plastic surgery.
Production Designers do not need plastic surgery.
Art Directors do not need plastic surgery.
Key Grips do not need plastic surgery.
Editors do not need plastic surgery.
Graphic Designers do not need plastic surgery.
Production Assistants do not need plastic surgery.
Camera Operators do not need plastic surgery.
Directors do not need plastic surgery.
Assistant Directors do not need plastic surgery.
Production Artists do not need plastic surgery.
Animators do not need plastic surgery.
Video Compositors do not need plastic surgery.

And they don't need nice cars either.

The list of these jobs goes on and on and on. I could name you hundreds of jobs in motion pictures and television that can translate to other jobs in other parts of the country. A person who designs graphics for instance, like the computer displays in the new Star Trek movie, could easily move into Web Graphic Design or Advertising Graphic Design.

You don't have a clue do you?

How insane of you to say that they aren't "real" professions!!!!
Also, any of these people could go teach their craft at University ANYWHERE in the country if they have had a reasonable amount of success in the industry and have something to offer students of the arts.

And then I haven't even started to cover the accountants, and people the handle money side of running things, or marketing, or publishing, ect ect ect.
All jobs with skill sets that you could take to another city.

The only people here keeping up appearances are the people THAT NEED TO. The Actors, Producers, and Executives because they have to represent themselves really well to keep their career going.

People here are ARTISTS, maybe that's not a "real" or easy life. Nobody said it would be. Being an artist isn't necessarily more valuable than what other people are, but it's not less valuable either. And it's certainly not fake, it's real. PEOPLE FOLLOWING THEIR PASSIONS AND THEIR DREAMS IS REAL, SO GET OVER IT.

sunnysunshine--My experience in Nor Cal was bad. I explained it all in this thread in earlier postings. Cost of living...crime...vagrants..ect. I don't want to beat a dead horse anymore.
