Stockton is not a desirable place to live and its very cheap to buy real estate there so a lot of people thought it would be a good idea to buy up 5, 10 even 15 houses through financing and rent them out, these "slum lords" were unable to keep up the payments when the housing prices dropped (which in turn dropped the rents) so there are a lot of foreclosures.

Is it a nice place to live? Would you buy there since you can find a house pretty inexpensively there?

How would the commute be from there to San Leandro or Berkeley?
Stockton is the Moderator cut: Inappropriate of California, simply the pit-ts. Ripley

If you move to Weston Ranch its OK Or Morada or the nice areas that are in gated communities but the south west and east are treacherous and the north is notorious outside of what few areas I named. If you plan on commuting to the bay area your best bet is Weston Ranch because its the closest thing to the outskirts of town that will make the commute almost bareable. Also that altamont during commute hours is a nightmare. All and all don't do it though you can get new and newer homes in Stockton the market is leveling off well enough for yoy to find something in the bay.

I live in Weston Ranch and its most definitely not one of the nicest parts in Stockton. You're right, it is okay, but it is a bit ghetto. The best parts of Stockton to live in has to be Brookside, Quail lakes, around UOP, East Benjamin Holt, and somewhat Eight Mile.

I happen to like Stockton, my grandmother settled in Stockton after coming from the south so I have a couple of uncles that still live there. My son currently plays little league baseball in stockton at one of the parks when I come to Manteca on the weekends.

Are there any Best Buy's or mom and pop computer shops out in Stockton? I think your keyboard has a broken caps lock key which makes everything you say appear as if it was written by a third grader with an infatuation for clicky buttons.
