Okay, this thread is about SF right?
Only 1/3 of SF residents we're even born in California! Only half of SF residents speak English at home. About 37% of the residents weren't even born in the USA. So California flakiness or not, it doesn't necessarily apply much to this city.

sidditycitygal is an unknown quantity at this point
Hey all, 1st post. I joined this forum because I have been doing research for different places to live. I am soooo desperate to escape San Francisco. I know lots of people love it and they come here each year and contribute to the steadily climbing rents, but I hate it. I was born here and raised both here and the east bay. I'll be here until I finish school, but as soon as I'm done I am so out!!! Screw renting for the rest of my life. I want to own something, and as a person starting out I could hardly afford to do that here. This city is good if you are a hipster who likes frequenting random coffee shops that try to be Starbucks (but can't) and thrift stores full of musty clothes. I'm not feeling that. Plus men here are sissies. I like manly men, and the culture in San Francisco does not promote that. I'd rather be down south.

Plenty of sissies all over. Geography has little to do with it.

That's hilarious! There are plenty of "sissies" as you call it EVERYWHERE in the world not just in SF. Sounds like you NEED to move...I'll help ya? LOL

Everyone who lives here is still a San Franciscan & a Californian, no matter where they were originally from... now if they've only been here a year or two, I guess your statement could apply - but that's a small percentage, I'm guessing. Fyi, I wasn't born in CA but moved here at age 6, so I consider myself "honorary" native.

Could be true, since I've noticed younger generations tend to be more flaky... but weren't we all flakier at younger ages, and became more responsible as we got older? Anyway, I don't think this is strictly a San Francisco problem - though I can't argue that West-coasters in general are more "laid-back" about stuff (including being on time). I kinda like that, as long as people aren't keeping me waiting for hours! I have a tendency to run a few minutes late here & there, but you can always count on me to show up... and I'm there quickly when it's important.

I am from the San Francisco Bay Area (grew up in Berkeley, but have lived in San Francisco as well), and there is definitely a flaky aspect to Bay Area culture. It is a generalization, but after living in Boston for five years, I notice a big difference here. When someone tells you they will be there (in Boston area), they show up, and on time. My husband has also been back and force, living on the west coast and east coast since college, and he has had the same experience. I still miss the Bay Area though!

As I mentioned before...flakes can be anywhere...not just in California. I'm pretty sure you haven't met all 37 million plus people...or have you? LOL
Ok, it's generalized but it's a well known thing. Everyone knows that MOST (NOT ALL) Californians prefer to take it easy and not commit until the very last minute. exceptions do happen.

Dude, that generalization is so broad and wrong as to be laughable. Why don't you start telling us what kind of foods all black folk like . . .

Re-read my post again. Note the keywords "exceptions" and "most". What, we can't generalize here?

I've been all over California from Crescent City to San Diego, and I've also been to NY, Chicago, FL, etc. So this is my personal point of view. If you don't agree with it, that's fine.
