I am from Milan, Italy but have lived in both Austin, TX and Tampa, FL. And now in San Jose, CA. I agree with the first poster. And, by European standards, Miami and NYC are the two top cities in the country hands down.

That's because in Europe we value the ability of speaking foreign languages, unlike Americans.

Don't even get me started about how much,as an Italian, I appreciate Latin Culture much more than Anglosaxon.

Miami only has a few really nice months, the months the "snow birds" come down. Jan-April are the best months in Miami, thats it.

I love the summers in Miami. Beautiful beach weather, cristal clear warm water, and not as many tourists on the beach.

Let's see:
- People are overall flaky, too-too laid-back. My native Californian friendss like to say lets do this and then change their mind at the last minute. New York is not like that.

- Weather sucks. Year round 63-50 temps (except 3-5 days of 80+ weather for the whole year) Then there's fog, annoying winds, and the temps go even lower cause of windchill

- High housing costs. OK, I have a roommate so my rent is pretty affordable, but why would anyone buy a 550k 1bed 700sqft condo and then deal with all these crap above? You can buy a house for that money in Austin, TX or other decent parts of US.

There's more but this pretty much sums it up.
After a year in the area, I am so sick of it for the same reasons you added. Not to mention, the women are terrible here. I also want to move to Miami. Oh, and before people flame me, I am from Milan, Italy, not Lincoln, Nebraska.

If you're so down on the U.S. and Americans, they why the heck are you here? I, myself, would rather live in almost any city in Europe over any city in the U.S., but your posts are rather insulting.

And if you think Miami is one of the top two cities in the U.S. you are crazy!

For those of you who are in the SF area and hate it, are you like slaves or something and cannot move away??? Really, those of us left behind won't mind if you live elsewhere . . .
