Default Is anyone as sick of SF as I am?

28 yo single male. Been living here for 7.5 years (lived in Palo Alto, Hayward, Daly City, and then SF). Been living in NYC before that.

Let's see:
- People are overall flaky, too-too laid-back. My native Californian friendss like to say lets do this and then change their mind at the last minute. New York is not like that.

- Weather sucks. Year round 63-50 temps (except 3-5 days of 80+ weather for the whole year) Then there's fog, annoying winds, and the temps go even lower cause of windchill

- High housing costs. OK, I have a roommate so my rent is pretty affordable, but why would anyone buy a 550k 1bed 700sqft condo and then deal with all these crap above? You can buy a house for that money in Austin, TX or other decent parts of US.

There's more but this pretty much sums it up.

I was thinking of a move to San Francisco and I was already worried about the problems you mentioned. Why do people go on about San Fran if it has such bad weather.

Could it be that you have had bad luck in terms of the neighborhoods you can afford or bad luck in your choices of neighborhoods? Surely some of the neighborhoods are sunnier than others no?

About the people, As an East Coast person myself, I always had the impression that San Fran had the best people in California in terms of not being overly laid back, but more educated and driven.

I live near Civic Center, so it's a good neighborhood (granted Mission/SOMA would be sunnier, but it's alot better than Sunset, so it's in between). The weather is good here. Neighborhoods to the west (sunset, daly city) are like 5-10 degrees colder.

As for the people, yes, they're relatively driven and ambitious by California standards because they're mostly East coast transplants. But over time it changes.

Exactly. I've lived in other states & cities, and anyone who calls this "bad" weather is off their rocker! Not to mention, as I've said MANY times on here, some of us actually love the cooler temps & fog. I'm so pale that I burn after 10 minutes of sun, so I'd be miserable in a place like LA or Arizona. Btw, I'm surprised the original poster would call it cold/foggy, considering they lived in Palo Alto for a while... I was there (EPA) for 2 1/2 years, and found it too hot - and certainly warmer than the city of SF!
