Its just the opposite for me. My mom's in the 60's (SoCal native -- hasn't been to SF in years) and calls it Frisco. I stopped calling it that in college when I met people from SF who informed us SoCal'ers that NorCal'ers didn't like or use the term.

Im only kidding...sorta.

SF is filled with high society people and they are quite a large and glamorous bunch-In my personal experience, some of the local hoity-toitys are the salt of the earth, genuinely awesome people, while others well....

let's just say, are very interesting

Yes, Randy is correct... I said that you're welcome to discuss this issue, but in a new thread (since it was off-topic for the other thread).

For the record, I think we've already established that rappers use "Frisco," but most other residents don't... I've been here since 1983, and always thought it was a no-no. Who here actually lives IN San Francisco? I do right now, and always say I live in "the city" or San Francisco - seems those are the terms most commonly used. Also notice that I say "UP in the city" when I'm in the South Peninsula, where most of my friends & family live... guess I think they'll assume I mean San Jose otherwise.

LOL... of course it's not a big deal, but for some reason it always leads to a debate! Not one I've had much in "real life," however.

Not everybody i'm talking about is a rapper and just about every 20 and 30 something native non rapping black and Latino I know born and raised in the city calls it frisco.

This is what I find really interesting, because in So Cal, we say things like, "I'm going to LA, or I have a job interview in LA."
Whereas, up in Nor Cal, people say, "I'm going to the city"
Just like way back when I heard someone up North say, "that was Hellacool", that lingo again, different, and we're only 500 miles away - give or take.
