-The Raiders existed for nine years in a different league than the 49ers. Then they moved to a different conference, still barely competing head-to-head with them.
-San Francisco was far more blue collar then as opposed to now. It was a capital of finance, but the middle and lower classes were still prominent. That shift is relatively recent. -The Raiders spent 13 years in Los Angeles, wiping away whatever contempt between fans that there may have been. That's an entirely different city-to-city rivalry, one not based on collar color. Even then, the Rams were a far bigger rival than the Raiders. -Whatever rivalry there may be began in 1995. That's a whopping 12 years of history and tradition. In that time, the two teams have faced off three occasions! What a rich tradition! |

None of what you stated negates the fact that the raiders and the 49ers have been rivals since the 60's. sure san fran was a slightly more blue collar than, but relative to the bay the east bay was where working class folks lived. and sf has been primarily white collar since the 80's. 27 years of gentrification is "recent"? you were probably in diapers, if you were even concieved at all when sf was swinging towards the upscale. since you have trouble understanding i will provide you with links of a rich rivalry. And if you knew anything about football or the rivalry you would know that actually since 1995 the rivalry has cooled off. ![]() Sports - NFL Beat: Raiders-49ers rivalry endures cooling trend - sacbee.com (broken link) Oakland Raiders Online Homepage life.style. What's your prob with transplants - I'm sure you've been one yourself---maybe that's why you're so angry. If you came to LA with that attitude, you'd be shot.
Have a nice night...... ![]() |

It's the battle of the bay. It is what is.. get over it.
I've been a Niner fan since birth and always loved the rivalry between the 2. It makes for some good parties. |

There's so much more to life than football games---

Ofcourse there is. But what's wrong with it being a part of it? I mean personal preference ofcourse. If you aren't in to football then ignore it. |
