Default Relocating to Vallejo

hello,
I'm considering relocating to Vallejo. Well, better said I'm considering working in Vallejo as a veterinarian... and hopefully live in Napa or in American Canyon..... I'm slightly worried about the safety in Vallejo area.... is it pretty safe to work there? Would it be nice to be a vet in Vallejo? plus, is a commute to and from Napa doable? What about American Canyon? Is it nice place to live in, safe? What about local schools?
I will really appreciate any input. Thank you in advance!

Exclamation Vallejo!?

If I were you I would not come to Vallejo. The Vet business in most offices are shady and would rather keep an animal in pain than to see it get better. The crime in Vallejo is like a secret dark gem. It Isn't visible at times but you WILL see poverty in most areas. My family and I have been assaulted numerous times by gang members and drug dealers. The police are not friendly and Vallejo has unfortunetly been put on the list for the city with the most corrupt cops ( I think its #4, #1 being L.A. and New Orleans). Roberries are very common and car thefts in Vallejo are rampant. It has been the car theft capital of the U.S. 4 times, not to mention the murder capital of the nation 3 times. Vallejo has a middle class look to it that fools many tourist. As one of our city leaders have said "Vallejo doesn't have the grime of East Oakland but it has the crime of East L.A.".

On the upside, I work in Napa currently, and it's a very nice little town! American Canyon is cute too, with a few strip-malls but not much else... both are easy commutes to/from Vallejo, since I get from the Carquinez bridge (entrance to Vallejo) to downtown Napa in about 15-20 minutes. Of course, I'm a crazy San Francisco driver, so actual times may vary - LOL.

I like American Canyon. Some of the new home communities are nice. To bad you have to work in Vallejo. Make sure you drive an old car and keep your insurance up to date. Carry some mace.
