Hi, My husband and I am moving to San Rafael for his job from Arizona. The real estate seems very steep in San Rafael. Can someone give us some advice as for where to look for an affordable housing? We would not mind to live 30 min drive from San Rafael but we would like to live in a safe and nice neighborhood. thanks

I've got good and bad news for you.. the bad news is, San Rafael is the most inexpensive town in the North Bay. Richmond on the other side of the bridge is affordable, but not safe. The good news is that rental prices haven't spiked as high as real estate has.. you'll pay half or less what a mortgage would be, let alone things like property taxes and HOA.

The further north you get from the GG Bridge the more moderate the housing prices should be. I'm not familiar with the Marin county market but I'm sure you can find someone online to help you look who knows the area.
Good luck! |
