Default sounds british, is it?

So, is it gourmet sort of thing or just like the albertsons marketplace off of masonic? I noticed that the old grocery store at haight and clayton was being renovated. I wonder if one of those is going in there?

anyone know?

Fresh & Queezy. It's a British Wal-Mart. All part time workers. I shop at the one in Chiang Mai Thailand. They even use the Walmart sloagans--we sell for less, and roll back. Oranges are 6 pounds for a buck in CNX-- I hope you have the same luck. It's a real union buster--make no mistake about it.

No, there isn't one going in there. Here's a map showing where they're opening in the greater Bay Area.

the one in Oakland mentioned is 73rd and Bancroft.... I don't get why they seem to going into crummy neighborhoods, but if they think they can make it work, more power to them.

Seems to me that the Fruitvale KMart closed because of massive "shrinkage" problems.... that and the fresh food was kept abominably... went there only once for a great deal on shrimp. When I saw the ice was pink with all the cross contamination my stomach turned and I left....

Wal-Mart in the UK is called Asda.

I had no idea that Tesco had business here in the US.

While I was in the UK I shopped there but I prefered Sainsburys and Waitrose.

Waitrose had a pizza bar, you pay a flat price, they had the shells there and you pile on all the topings you wanted. It was wonderful.

Lack of competition and frequently, tax breaks.

The Safeway in South Berkeley was commonly reffered to as "The World's Worst Safeway." Anyone know what it is now? I heard they closed it down. I remember calling the main office to complain about a blatant sanitation problem and they just said sorry for the inconvenience--it is what it is--try college ave--which was a pretty good store. I did get a petrified roach in my Romaine lettuce at Lucky one time (it was called "Sucky.")
