Yes. I remember, and it wasn't that long ago, when people moved out there because they couldn't afford to live near civilization. Way back when rocks were soft, those areas were good places to ride dirt bikes. Who woulda thunk woods and farmland out in the middle of nowhere would ever be worth anything? But I suppose my neighborhood was out in the boonies at one time.

Back in 1989, My folks even almost bought a house off of Sycamore Valley but opted out cause the staggering price tag of $300,000(in prime Danville) seemed too much for them. |

Are you serious? Pleasanton is more expensive than San Francisco? How on earth did that happen?

The price is per housing unit - most housing units in Pleasanton are single family homes, most in SF are condos. That would be my guess. A single family home in SF will still cost more than one in Pleasanton.

Why is their so many rich people?
These homes run an average of 1 million. who has that kind of money? Hey, if our econemy is that bad, folks in the bay aren't suffering from Bushes policies. |

That's just based on recent transactions. Not everyone, by far, bought their homes at these ridiculous prices.

Is it true the bay is home to the richest people on planet earth?
It seems alot of folks in the Bay Area have very nice cars and homes so they must have lots of money cuz the average income for these cities is rich mans money. I consider 6 figures to be rich so im going on that. |

But yes, per capita, we do have a lot of wealthier people. This partly has to do with Silicon Valley, where a huge number of dot-com millionaires make their homes... and we also just have a higher average salary, since our cost-of-living is higher. An income of $50K will get you a cushy life in some places, but here it's just barely enough to pay rent. |
