Default Are there any other 'Chinatown' areas in the San Francisco area?

We are visiting now and went through Chinatown. IN most cities in the US and Canada like this with a lot of Chinese people there is the older district, which would be like the Chinatown in San Francisco, but is there an area, like a newer district, or area with more Chinese restaurants and stores scattered around?

If you are familiar with Toronto, it would be like the downtown, older Chinatown area, and Markham and North York and all those other areas that have newer stores.

Just wondering, if you have an idea of where, can you tell me roughly what area and streets?

Also San Bruno Ave. in the Portola district (near Silver Ave.) and Leland Ave. in Visitacion Valley... I used to work on those streets, and EVERYTHING is in Chinese! The Sunset district has a huge Chinese population as well, so you'll find "mini Chinatowns" all over that area.

Some pics of Leland & San Bruno Ave:

Nice pics. Even in the rain, SF looks like a great city! I love all the huge sidewalks and zero-lot lines. Been too long in Florida, the land of sprawl and surface parking fronting sidewalks.

In the sunset district (which holds an Asian-American majority I believe) there are numerous commericial districts dominated by Chinese businesses (notably along Irving and Noriega streets). Oakland has a distinct Chinatown in its Downtown and suburban towns like Fremont and Milpitas are sometimes even described as "new Chinatowns", with wealthier mini-malls catering solely to asian customers.

Dublin Ulferts Center is a brand-new mini-mall with shops catering to Asian-Americans, especially Chinese-Americans, living in the Tri-Valley Area. People living in Mountain House and Tracy in the Central Valley shop there as well. I visited the center last year when some of the stores were open during construction. It was not busy at the time, but I think that has changed since the opening of the remaining stores. I must say that it is a bit on the small side. Google "Dublin Ulferts Center" for more information.

There is also a Milpitas Ulferts Center in Milpitas, CA as well.

On another note, 99 Ranch Market has a bustling store in Dublin on the opposite side of town in an existing strip mall formerly anchored by Ralph's Supermarket. Nearby (a little more than 1/2 of a mile away) will be the future West Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station.

Default Absolutely!

It is estimated that San Francisco is a majority Asian at 55% since 2001. (The reported data is flawed). So you won't have trouble finding the Azn/majority Chinese hot spots: Noriega Street (start going west from 19th Avenue); IRVING Street, (just where 19th ave crosses); Clement street (Richmond district); Balboa in the richmond district - there are less restaurants here but it's still worth a visit at it has a small theater, a cool cafe and close to the ocean.
