Should I move to Atlanta so I can own a home? (Santa Rosa: to rent, how much)

go for it! I am leaving WPB and moving to Oil city so I can own a nice big house to enjoy. Youll be very happy owning a house, you should get a nice big house for between $200k and $250k. The average cost is about $90 a living square foot

Yes, it's humid in the summer, but so is all the south. Atlanta, however, is not the most humid southern city, there are others. Make sure you're coming to Atlanta for more reasons than just being able to own a home. I mean, you could go to plenty of states to do that. Why Atlanta? Depending on how much you want to spend, and what you're looking for, you could own a home here no problem. Home ownership is very attainable in Atlanta. I always encourage people to rent first, then buy. Coming for a visit won't give you any real idea of where you want to live.

I moved from the gorgeous North bay of California~ Santa Rosa~ to New Mexico to buy a house and I dont regret it so far. Make sure to do lots of research first and line up all your ducks. Buying a home is an important step to financial security, good for you!

Like most places Atlanta has positive and negative points.
I grew up in Georgia, but have lived in No. & So. California over the past 20 years.In 2002 I returned to Atlanta for job reasons from Sausalito. It is a major culture shock compared to the bay area. I would not make the move based solely on housing economics without spending some time here. My personal opinion is Atlanta has lost much of her original charm over the past decade. Check out a few other cities. Good luck
