Default $250-300K apartment??

Hi,

Is there any chance whatsoever of buying a place for $250-300,000 in a safe area in or around SF? What are the best options? Just looking for a one bed for the moment (or even a studio). We are from London so don't know much about the housing market/ process of buying, so what can we expect to pay in terms of fees?

Many thanks

I highly doubt it. Look on craigslist but most studios in SF i've seen go for at least high 300s. You can find something in the East bay for the low 300s.

You can look in San Bruno, that is among one of the most affordable places in the peninsula, but I wouldn't expect much, be prepared to look at very outdated places or places that need a lot of work. You can get 1bds in the low 200s in San Bruno. Lots of short sales.

San Bruno and Daly City are possible now. San Mateo and South San Francisco may be soon. The nicer parts of San Francisco, Belmont, San Carlos, Burlingame and Millbrae may never fall into that range again.
