Default Watersend-Benicia

We are considering buying a new house in the Watersend Community of Benicia. However, that refinery is kind of scary. Can anyone give me any information about it and the town in general (highschool too)?

I'm not sure where this area is. Its been a while since I've lived there. I can tell you that I lived on Morning Glory Dr ('91-'96) and never even noticed the refinery was there except that you have to drive by it to get to the Southampton area. I was just up from Matthew Turner school. I still have friends there and have never heard of any problems with the refinery. I never smelt a thing because in Southampton you are up wind of it.

There are refineries all over the area. I wouldn't worry about them as long as you can't smell them. There were some problems way back with some of the refineries in Richmond. I lived in Benicia when Exxon owned the refinery. I think it is owned by Valero now. I think it has been run well and I wouldn't hesitate to live in the area again. In fact I would love to move back there. I'd probably move downtown Benicia though since my son is done school.

Hope this helps. My son was in K, 1,and 2 when we lived there so I cant help you with the high school. I loved Benicia. Good luck to you.
