I lived just on the other side of Golden Gate Park, at 33rd & Irving. I wasn't wild about the accomodations (in-law apartment under two toddlers) but the neighborhood was awesome. You may find it kinda slow to access Chinatown by MUNI from that part of the city, though.. the 31 and then the 9.

|
California St in Richmond district is an easy commute to Chinatown. You can walk to California St and catch the trolley #1 which will get you there straight.
