Default SAMTRANS to SFO from the city?

Has anyone taken SAMTRANS from the Mission/1st Station to SFO? Where exactly do you enter and buy your ticket? Is it underground like the BART? Also, it says you get dropped at the International terminal - is this anywhere near the domestic terminal? Can you walk there or take a conveyor belt? I need to get to the Southwest Airlines (Domestic) terminal and just wondering if it's feasible to take SAMTRANS or other inexpensive public transportation, rather than taking a cab.

I'm not familiar with SamTrans...but why don't you just take BART? It goes right to SFO.

Samtrans is a bus service. You get on at the street level, on Mission Street. It's $4 to take the KX express, or $3 to take the slower 292 or the late-night 397. Either way it's cheaper than BART. Both buses make stops at the domestic terminals.

The only other thing to consider is, the KX has a baggage restriction. You can take a carry-on, but if you want to take anything bigger out of San Francisco, you have to take the 292 instead.

Take BART to the airport. The BART station is in the international terminal. There is a free shuttle monorail that loops around the airport and goes to all the terminals.

Sonarrat, I know what SamTrans is, I just have never ridden it before, so I can't give advice on it...

It's a little cheaper than BART though, but BART (at $5.35 from Embarcadero and Montgomery Stations to SFO) would probably be at least a little faster, plus like humboldtrat said, it stops right at the international terminal.

The OP seemed to think it was a subway or train service. Just clearing it up for him.. Samtrans is San Mateo County's bus service, but all of their express lines just happen to go to downtown San Francisco.
