Default Reverse commute from Pleasanton to Modesto?

Hi,

My husband is considering a job in Modesto. Is it possible to commute from Pleasanton? Thanks for any feedback as we are relocating from the east coast and I have no idea what life is like there?

120 miles round trip.. and people wonder why the inland valleys are so polluted???? You can afford a nice part of Modesto or a nearby town like Patterson for much less than Pleasanton.

Since Modesto and Pleasanton are such similar cities, I'm having trouble understanding why someone choose one over the other. If you already lived in Pleasanton, I could get it but that's a long drive.

I doubt if you're going to find much advice about such a commute since it just doesn't make much sense. Neither Modesto or Pleasanton are noted for having lot's of jobs but both are pretty much suburbs without a city. I know people who commute from both Pleasanton and Modesto to the City but none that commute between the two.

The commute should be a blast as far as traffic. I-580 clears up just past Livermore and is smooth sailing all the way to I-5.

The only reason I know this is because I ride dirt bikes in that area.

Thanks for the input. There are more career opportunites for myself to live in Pleasanton and commute to SF so that is why I am trying to understand the commute options. I am glad that Modesto seems like a nice place to live... you must understand that from an east coasters perspective you only know about Modesto b/c of Scott Peterson!

And American Graffitti.

Commute is easy from Pleasanton to Modesto, provided he works regular hours. He'll go against the flow of commuters. The other way is a nightmare!!

That makes more sense.. except that Pleasanton has gotten as expensive as San Francisco in the past few years. But hey, to each his own.
