Default Avg commute time from Palo Alto to San Mateo

we are relocating to Palo Alto and need advice on how long a commute from downtown Palo Alto to San Mateo (where 92 hits El Camino). Say at 7:30 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Any thoughts are appreciated. If 7:00 a.m. makes a big diff, would also be curious of that time. Thanks!

Are you closer to 280 or 101? The former would be about 25 minutes, the latter about 30. The surface streets in Palo Alto, like Page Mill, Oregon Expressway, etc. are usually more congested than the freeways in that stretch. It's after 92 that you run into problems on 101.

My husband commutes from Palo Alto to San Mateo every day. When he drove it took anywhere from 30-90 minutes. Now he takes the train and it takes about 30 minutes and he doesn't have as much stress. Luckily, he has a coworker who picks him up at the train station, but there is also a shuttle service that I believe would add an additional 10 mins.
