Default Ave commute time from Napa to Davis/Sacramento

I work at University of California, Davis and, as my fiance just got a job at a winery in Calistoga, we are considering living in Napa, CA. Does anyone make the commute from Napa to Davis/Sacramento? The part I'm most concerned about is Route 12 coming out and going into Napa. But, as I'd be going against traffic, this may not be an issue (I'm not sure). Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Your fiance will be looking at a 35 minute drive. I'm not sure what you will be looking at though, sorry.

Highway 12 and Highway 37 are the main (and basically only) routes between Fairfield/Vacaville/Highway 80 and the cities along 101 (Napa, Sonoma, Petaluma, etc). I used to commute from Fairfield to Petaluma every day, and there was some pretty bad traffic. From what I remember though, traffic going the opposite direction (which would be you) wasn't too bad at all.

Both roads are 1-lane each way, so if there's an accident you can get stuck for quite awhile. Highway 12 is a nicer drive scenery-wise.

Also, once a year Nascar descends down on Infineon Raceway, and the Thursday and Friday of that week is hell on both of those roads as all the RVs and campers drive in to stake their claims.

Once you hit Fairfield, it gets crowded for awhile - but again, you should be against commute.

It's not bad. Try to avoid the regular rush hour traffic by leaving a bit before or after.
