But the OP asked for the "Top".

And while all are relatively nice, Orinda and Piedmont Schools are collectively a cut above the rest of the East Bay and 99% of the state as well.

The same thing as the Oakland flats stigma just not as bad. Poor people live in the flatlands and the wealthier ones live in the hills above them basically, a fairly inaccurate generalization but a somewhat valid one too.

Really? Because this is what I read "Looking for good schools and good safe community"

All of those schools in these areas are so good that any students individual success at them and getting into college will be dependent on the person itself. Someone from Las Lomas High has just as good as a chance as someone from Campolindo or Miramonte in getting into college or doing well. The whole Lamorinda (Lafayette, Morage, Orinda) area's high schools are in the same district as Walnut Creek. They area all so good it doesn't really make much of a difference at all. Kids from Las Lomas go to the same colleges as kids from Campolindo.

The same can be said of a person such as myself who went to an inner city school, Oakland High, and later earned an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. But that isnt the point.

And while the high schools are in the same district, the elementary schools most certainly are not-and for the schools in those important formative years, the others are good, but Orinda is the best. At least as far as test scores are concerned.

Its not a bad thing you know.

You will please show me where the OP mentions "TOP"? I can't find it but you seem to have somewhere...... Nobody said they were all equal but they are all good, are they not? And "good" is what the OP is looking for, right? For some us, zip code or address status doesn't matter as long as it's a GOOD community.

No the same cannot be said b/c there are a lot of people in the inner city who don't make it b/c of their environment. I wasn't talking about you either. All of the schools in those communities have great learning environments that promote success way more than inner city schools.

What type of school do you think is the most important in determining a child's success: a elementary school where you learn how to build a miniature replica of a CA mission and go panning for gold on a 2 day trip. Or a high school that will determine where you go to college and what you do with your adult life.

Of course you'll start with argument about development at the early stage. But you could go to the worst inner city elementary and middle school but then attend a good high school and be just as successful as someone who went to Orinda schools their whole life b/c as far as I'm aware, college admissions aren't looking at how many E's and S's you got in elementary school.

I know you like to argue, but do you really need to split hairs on this issue?

I won't add anything to the schools issue but maybe if the OP gives us all a price range he's looking to spend on a house or for rent, then we can help with what town/city would be a better fit. We all know here that the price of a house in Orinda or Alamo is far more pricey than Dublin or Pleasant Hill.

Apparently you really need to.

I simply stated that Orinda and Piedmont have the best schools in the East Bay and that set you off. As usual.

Next you'll say, What makes Orinda better?

Then I'll say, It has better schools.

Then you'll say, Whats so great about their schools?

Then I'll say, higher test scores.

Then you'll say, but there are other factors besides test scores.

Then I'll say, aside from education, Orinda is more prestigious.

Then you'll say, That is so pretentious and superficial. I hate people like you.

LOL

I notice in your posts that you dislike the notion that some places are just preferable to others. Well, I hate to break it to you but that's life.

Yeah, the OP showed us HER top communities she had selected and wasn't asking what you thought were the top communities. She had obviously done her research and didn't need to be in Tiburon or Atherton. Either way first you said it was "Top" schools then changed it to "Top" communities, as I said splitting hairs.

Wow man, you really need to take a look in the mirror. All I said is the communities listed all had good schools and were safe and that Walnut Creek just had more to offer. But you didn't like that and needed to chime in with your "well this is slight better and more prestigous" BS. I never even originally addressed you or any post you made, I was addressing the OP. YOU are the one that had to split hairs with me over my comment NOT addressed to you in anyway. So who is the one REALLY splitting hairs here?

And as usual you'll make a whole bunch of assumptions about what you think I would say or react. You make up a whole little conversation in your head that never occurred and never would for god knows what reason. We already had that conversation so why do you keep bringing it up and trying to start something??? You seem to have some weird obsession with the fact that I think you are pretentious and full of yourself, well I am glad I have made such an impact on your life. You seem comfortable in your own skin about being that way so why do you think I still have a problem with it? You admitted it and are alright with it, which I respect, but I could care less. Unlike you, I don't like to beat dead horses.

That's BS, I have a problem with people making generalizations and stereotypes about places and putting other places down for really no good reason. I try to be objective and have no problem if people like a place I do not and I suggest places that i do not like if that is what the person is looking for.

I notice in your posts you seem to have a problem with people that don't want the most prestigious, luxurious, popular this and that. You seem to have a problem with people that don't care about the same crap you do and who don't want to constantly talk about how rich or powerful SF and the Bay Area is. You constantly post threads to brag about the Bay Area, and many of them get few to no responses cause no one cares!

YOU are the one that started this pointless bickering just b/c I thought WC was a better choice overall than all the others, not me.

Can't you go argue about politics or something to get your daily fix in cuz I am really over this?
