I noticed that Pleasanton isn't on your list. It's a little closer to the other towns you mentioned than Livermore. Pleasant Hill is also pretty nice.

Where will you be working? That can mean all the difference in the world.
For instance...if you are working in the city, Orinda would be doable but Livermore would be a commuter's nightmare.
Good luck with your move.

Consider Hayward Hills. It's much better than Hayward, but undervalued because of the Hayward flats stigma. There are some incredible neighborhoods being built up there.

I would stick with Orinda, Lafayette and Moraga. That part of the hills is nicer than the inland east bay.

I tend to agree.
Orinda is really nice and lots of places claim this, but Orinda's schools really are among the very best in the state, perhaps among the 3 best school districts in California.

All of those locations offer good schools and a safe community. Walnut Creek has the most to offer out of all of those cities by far b/c of it's large downtown. Also it's a better spot for getting to other parts of the Bay Area b/c of the 680/24 interchange and BART station, but all do have BART except San Ramon and Livermore.
