Default Need suggestion regarding commuting to Pittsburg

I will be starting a new job in Pittsburg in June and I needed some advice regarding the commute. Currently, I live in Sunset district of San Francisco and I am wondering if anyone knows how the commute to Pittsburg from San Francisco as well as coming back is since it's reverse commute. Since my wife is working in Alameda, another option I am considering is to move to Alameda and I am wondering if the commute from Alameda to Pittsburg as well as coming back would be any better since the 880 can get pretty congested as well. In terms of distance, there is only a 5 mile difference between whether or not I leave from SF or from Alameda, but I know that the Bay Bridge is always unpredictable.

The 880 between Alameda and 980 isn't horrible. The heavy stuff on the northbound Nimitz is usually between Jackson St in Hayward and 23rd Avenue in Oakland, and then getting into the maze - so merge onto eastbound 980 which turns into 24, and then 680 to 242 to 4.

It's not so much getting across the bridge that would be the problem from the Sunset - it would be getting out to it! If you are close to the 280/1 split, then you could take 19th Ave south a little ways to 280 North and merge onto 101. If you're closer to Golden Gate Park, then you can count on taking 20-30 minutes just to get onto the bridge, time which would get you all the way to Highway 4 if you started from Alameda.

I follow traffic reports pretty closely and I rarely hear much about the reverse-commute direction going into Pittsburg. The main thing is that it's an extremely long commute, but I appreciate what you're trying to do by living in one of the towns and commuting to the other.
