Daly city, SSF, Pacifica or San Bruno?
Hi all, I'm new member and looking to move to the bay area.
I do want to be close to San Francisco, but doesn't want to live in the city. I did some research and found the following options: Daly city, South San Francisco, Pacifica and San bruno.
Can you guys tell me about the area? The quality of life? The type of people?
Thank you all so much!

I lived in Pacifica for about a year, and really loved it there... though I already got chastised for "pushing" the town by another member, LOL. But since you asked, it's a really nice place to live - safe/quiet, clean, GORGEOUS views, basic shopping, close to SF, BART & the highways, etc. The downside for some is the weather, which I personally loved, but some find very gloomy... it's probably the foggiest spot in the Bay Area (they even celebrate it with a yearly festival), and can easily be 10 degrees colder than nearby Peninsula towns. I actually have a keychain that says "Where the fog is Pacifica?"
If I were to compare Pacifica with the other cities you mentioned, I'd say it depends on what you're looking for... Daly City & SSF will be most convenient to the city, and San Bruno is probably the cheapest, but all three have problems with airplane noise (in some parts) and crime (more in DC & SB). You will find more shopping in the other towns too, though Pacifica is only a few minutes from everything you'd need. Does that help? Oh, and if it were me, I'd move back to Pacifica over the others... the views and weather are clinchers for me, but we all have different preferences and needs.

There is a lot of noise from jets taking off over San Bruno and S. San Francisco - sometimes every 20 minutes or so. Check out Millbrae, Burlingame and San Mateo - warmer weather and less jet noise.

The western hills of San Bruno don't really have any of the problems normally associated with the area, though.. except the fog. There's more fog there.

You've asked about the demographics of these cities, and they are mostly middle class with a few pockets in each city of upper class. All four are classified as Depressed for lending purposes which means you must put more down or your loan will be a little higher. There are over 300 homes for sale in Daly City right now, close to 200 in South City, 89 in San Bruno and 107 in Pacificia. Most of these are short sales. You need a good realtor to help you! They're basically all middle class areas, with the eastern side of San Bruno being more working class. The upper peninsula is in a bit of a slump because it appreciated as much as Millbrae or Burlingame, but doesn't have quite as much to recommend it, so prices have been gradually sliding especially in Daly City and SSF.

Daly City.
I live in Daly City right now and there alot of Short-Sale homes on sale. In my opinion Daly City brings a bit more life compared to the other cities and is a bit closer to certain places in San Francisco.
