Does anyone else get tired of the "gay stereotype".
I mean seriously. When I tell people I'm from San Francisco, literally every time it is followed by snickers and a corny gay joke that wouldn't have been funny in middle school. I almost have to drag my girlfriend out to prove i'm straight. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being gay, in fact I like that our city is so diverse, but it's like come on people, there's way more to San Francisco than just that.

Well, if you live in the midwest you get to be a dumb ignorant racist redneck with a gun rack and a wife-cousin. (same goes for parts of the south)
Sorry, but the coastal residents of the US are (IMO) much more prone to stereotype and look down upon those of us from "fly over country" than vice-versa.
So, my advice is to get over it.

Ya know...
I'm a lesbian and haven't made the move to San Francisco quite yet and I am ALREADY sick of the remarks. Being gay has ZERO to do with why we are re-locating there. My reasons would be:
1) Have wanted to live on the West Coast since I was 13.
2) I have a wide range of opportunities in my career in the Bay area.
3) My kids will be exposed to a vast array of cultures and opportunities otherwise not available to them where we are now.
4) I am NOT living through one more midwest winter. I'll take a 20-30 degree night in San Francisco ANY day over 16 inches of snow and 20 below zero with the wind chill temps.....
But I digress.....I'm done hearing "So you moving there to be with all the other lezzies"? "You gonna get married as soon as you get there?"....just stop....San Francisco is SOOOOOOOOOO much more than that. And this is coming from a gay girl herself
But as Jerry Seinfeld himself said...."Not that there's anything wrong with that".....

Actually, it's never 20-30 degrees here. When it's 20-30 out in the outlying sheltered Bay Area valleys in December, it's more like 50 in downtown SF due to the marine influence.
The downside of that is that when it's 110 in the East Bay in the summer, it's also 50-60 degrees in downtown SF due to the fog.

LOL...I'm just saying...I wouldn't be complaining if it did get that cool at night. Just no more 16 inch-block-your-car-in-and-be-holed-up-in-your-house blizzards!! When they are telling you to limit your time outside to under 10 minutes, you know it's just too darn cold out.

Yeah it's pretty annoying and just stereotypes but people in SF stereotype and make fun of other parts of the country and their own state as well, so it's a two way street here. People in Southern CA get sick of all the stereotypes San Franciscans throw their way as well.

Right?
I'm from Cleveland, Ohio.
Discuss. I'm sure there are PLENTY of stereotypes for us. Just lay off the sports teams, k? LOL

Yes, the stereotypes are silly... they also think we're ALL raging liberals who sit in trees, only eat organic foods, hate the military, and attend protests every weekend. Oh well - I actually consider some of these things to be positive, so they can think what they please.

You mean you don't do those things??
Hmmm...might want to revisit my plan here....
OP - If you're comfortable in who you are...who give a **** what others "think" you may be. You shouldn't have to drag out a *ahem* "girlfriend" *ahem* to prove your straightness. Us gays know you're straight...lol....not that I can speak on behalf of the recruiters out there.....lighten up...it's all good....
